It just didn’t feel right to take pictures. I felt like I needed to preserve the sanctity of these two places, to the extent a food blogger can. I’m talking about SUNdeVICH and Seasonal Pantry. Long overdue, I decided to make my initial trek to these two stores, nestled in Shaw in a somewhat quiet neighborhood and right around the corner from each other. The trek was worth it and I’m definitely going back.
Blackbyrd Warehouse, the most recent venture from Eric Hilton (of Thievery Corporation) and his brother Ian, gets my seal of approval. The Hilton brothers also own Marvin, Gibson, American Ice Company, and Eighteenth Street Lounge. Man, I really hope they make it one day. Poor guys . . .
I had dinner at Standard today. Yes, it *may* have been a bad idea to try a place with predominantly outdoor seating on such a sweltering day as today. I figured I could sweat out the calories as I was ingesting them. (Clever, yes?) Had I not thoroughly enjoyed my pulled pork sandwich, fried pickles, and Weihenstephaner Hefe-Weissbier (I cut and paste that one), I may have complained.
Lost Society is great for drinks and a view but doesn’t distinguish itself in terms of cuisine.
